Town Administrator Resume Review Committee - Minutes

8/23/16, 7 pm

Committee members were sworn in by Town Clerk.

Present: Ray Tryon, Rob Hoogs, Roy Carwile, Kelly Tryon, Chris Blair, Jonathan Sylbert
Absent: Stan Ross

Committee discussed job description and recommends revising it. Needs to be properly prioritized, clarified, and redundancies removed.

Suggestions include:

Strike:
“Berkshire County residency shall be required, following appointment.”

Alter:
“assists in preparation and implementation”

“serves as human resource administrator”

“team builder” should be added, and “working cooperatively.”

Rewrite initial paragraphs:

  • Directs and supervises personnel appointed by the Select Board, except as provided by the General Laws, and ensures Town personnel and boards are in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Select Board in establishing goals and long-term plans and evaluates programs.
  • Serves as team builder and liaison among town departments, commissions, and elected and appointed boards and officials; school districts; and regional, state and federal agencies. Helps problem-solve and troubleshoot as needed and keeps Select Board informed of issues, failures and successes as appropriate.
  • Serves as liaison to the public on behalf of the town.
  • Prepares materials for Select board meetings; attends all such meetings and advices the Board as appropriate.
  • Consults with town counsel as needed.

Committee reviewed applications submitted to date.

Committee will wait for submission deadline to pass before meeting again and reviewing new applications.
